The musical centers on the baker and his wife, who wish to start a family; Cinderella, who wishes to attend the King's ball; and Jack, who wishes his cow would give milk so it doesn't have to be sold at market. When the baker and his wife learn that they cannot have a child because of the evil witch's curse, the two set off on a journey through the forest to break the curse, and everyone winds up changed forever.
